As a trusted industry voice, the IAJ brings together member companies, regulators, policymakers, and stakeholders to advance sound insurance practices, ethical conduct, and informed decision-making.
The Insurance Association of Jamaica (IAJ) is the national representative body for Jamaica’s insurance industry. We exist to support the growth, integrity, and sustainability of the insurance sector, promote the best interests of the insuring public, and contribute to Jamaica’s long-term economic development.

We represent the collective interests of the insurance industry on matters that impact regulation, policy, and market development. Through constructive engagement with government and regulators, we advocate for frameworks that support stability, innovation, and consumer protection.
Public Education & Awareness
We design and support public education initiatives that improve insurance literacy, promote responsible financial planning, and raise awareness around key issues such as fraud prevention, claims processes, road safety, and health and wellness.
Ethical Standards & Best Practices
The IAJ promotes high standards of professional conduct among its members, encouraging ethical behaviour, accountability, and fair treatment of policyholders across the industry.

The Insurance Association of Jamaica is supported by a dedicated team of professionals who work collaboratively with member companies, committees, and stakeholders to advance the Association’s mandate. Guided by integrity, expertise, and a commitment to public interest, our team plays a central role in supporting the growth, ethical standards, and effectiveness of Jamaica’s insurance industry.
The Insurance Association of Jamaica proudly announces the appointment of Rosemarie A. Henry, JP, FCCA, FLMI, MBA as its new President. With more 30 years of experience in finance, compliance, and insurance regulations, Ms. Henry brings a distinguished career of leadership and transformationto the role. She has served as the IAJ Vice President, Life for the past three years and currently leads Risk, Compliance and Data Privacy for CUNA Caribbean Insurance, where she oversees regulatory programs, strategic compliance and risk initiatives across multiple Caribbean jurisdictions.
In accepting the role, Ms. Henry shared: “It is an honour to lead the Insurance Association of Jamaica at such a pivotal time. I look forward to working closely with our members to strengthen industry collaboration enhance public trust, and ensure that our sector remains resilient, innovative, and responsive to the needs of the Jamaican people”.
Her presidency signals a renewed focus on industry-wide engagement, regulatory excellence, and sustainable growth.
Ms. Sharon Donaldson has been the Managing Director of the General Accident Insurance Company Jamaica since 2008. She is currently the group CEO of General Accident Insurance Companies Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago and Barbados.
Ms. Donaldson’s academic journey is a testament to her dedication and thirst for knowledge. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of London and an MBA from the University of Wales. Her professional credentials include being a Chartered Accountant, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica, and an Attorney-at-Law.
Ms Donaldson is the IPP for the Insurance Association of Jamaica (IAJ) and current President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica. (ICAJ) She heads the committee of Professional Accountants in Business.
She is the former chairman of the Forestry Department Advisory Board, a former member of the board of the Jamaica Environment Trust (JET), and a Director on several boards, including Musson (Jamaica) Limited, the parent company of General Accident Insurance Company, Eppley Limited, 138 Student Living Limited, and Canopy Insurance, among others.
Ms Donaldson was a nominee for the Jamaica Observer Business Leader of the Year award in 2016.
Ms. Donaldson’s personal interests and values are as inspiring as her professional achievements. She is an ardent lawn tennis fan and a firm believer in the transformative power of education, especially for the less fortunate.
Her philosophy is “when the possible is not the answer, the impossible is…Find the impossible position” (Nelson Mandela)
Peter is a chartered insurance professional with over 40 years in Jamaica’s general insurance industry and has served as Chairman of the Board of EduFocal Limited since 2012.
In 2013, Peter was appointed Vice-President of the Insurance Association of Jamaica (IAJ), and chaired the Association’s General Insurance Committee. From 2018 to 2020, he was the President of IAJ and continues to serve on its Board of Directors.
A beloved leader, Peter is the Managing Director of Jamaica’s #1 General Insurance Company, the British Caribbean Insurance Company (BCIC). He combines strong technical skills with a commitment to always delivering outstanding value to BCIC’s customers. He has been deeply involved in creating many innovative, customer-centric products, such as Diamond Max for drivers over 55 and the Minimax collision benefit for third-party policies. His transformational management style has significantly contributed to the growth and empowerment of his team, and has led to BCIC being the most profitable general insurance company in Jamaica in 2017 and 2019.
Under his leadership. BCIC has sustained enviable growth in both revenue and profit and has continued to innovate. BCIC refunded 50 million dollars to customers when the pandemic limited their driving, the only company in its markets to do so. In 2022, BCIC was assigned a Financial Strength Rating of B++ (Good) by international credit rating agency AM Best.
Peter is the leader of BCIC’s digital transformation initiatives, as he continues to make BCIC a disruptive industry leader that is agile and adaptable to the constantly changing insurance
landscape.
Dave Morrison is the Chief Executive Officer of Advantage General Insurance Company Ltd. (AGIC), bringing over 30 years of experience in financial management, corporate strategy, and operational leadership. Appointed as CEO in December 2024, Morrison is a visionary executive known for transforming organizations, driving profitability, and building high-performance teams.
His leadership at AGIC is defined by a commitment to efficiency, digital innovation, and delivering exceptional service to clients across Jamaica. Before assuming the CEO role, Morrison served as AGIC’s Deputy CEO since September 2023 and previously as Chief Financial Officer, where he played a pivotal role in the company’s financial stability and growth.
Beyond AGIC, Morrison has held executive positions at Rubis Energy Jamaica and Mavis Bank Coffee Factory and a managerial role at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he spearheaded corporate restructuring, financial turnarounds, and strategic transformations. A Chartered Accountant, he has also served on the boards of Sterling Asset Management Limited and Dolphin Cove Limited.
A passionate sports enthusiast, Morrison enjoys squash, football and beach outings. His leadership philosophy is rooted in integrity, innovation, and collaboration, ensuring AGIC remains Jamaica’s leading digital insurer.
Willard is currently the Chief Executive Officer with direct responsibility for insurance operations of Sagicor Life Jamaica (SLJ) Limited and Latin America, and spans over thirty years in the insurance and pensions industries.
Willard is a Director of Employee Benefits Administrator, Sagicor Insurance Brokers, Sagicor Pooled Investment Funds, Sagicor Panama and Sagicor Costa Rica.
He has a BSc in Mathematics and Computer Systems (Upper Second Class Honours) from The University of the West Indies and is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries.
Willard is married to Paulette and has three (3) children.
The Insurance Association of Jamaica (IAJ) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Everton McFarlane as its new Executive Director, effective March 11, 2025.
Mr. McFarlane brings an impressive portfolio of experience and knowledge in economic modelling, policy development, strategic planning and regulatory analysis, particularly within the financial sector.
Throughout his career, Mr. McFarlane has led and contributed to transformative national initiatives, including the Growth Inducement Strategy and related economic structural reform agenda, (PIOJ), Tax Reform (MOFPS) and the Introduction of Risk Based Supervision (FSC). His ability to align public policy with private sector development has been a hallmark of his leadership.
The IAJ looks forward to Mr. McFarlane’s leadership in strengthening the Association’s role as the Voice of the Insurance Industry and deepening its engagement with members, stakeholders and the wider public.
We also extend heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Orville Johnson, our former Executive Director, for nearly two decades of dedicated service to the Association. Mr. Johnson continues to serve as a valued advisor and leader with the IAJ secretariat.
