Sagicor Group Jamaica recently implemented a ‘work- from-home’ policy, offering its team members the opportunity and flexibility to complete their duties from the comfort of their home.

The policy, which came into effect in August 2019, was piloted for a period of approximately six months before officially being rolled out across the group.

In a media release on Friday, Senior Vice-President of Group Human Resources and Corporate Sales & Services Karl Williams said that the ‘work-from-home’ programme is another benefit from the group that is geared towards enhancing productivity and facilitating team engagement among employees.

Williams noted that in an ever-evolving fast-paced world, where increasingly, more and more of the talent pool is looking for greater flexibility in the workplace, employers are having to design innovative approaches and value-added benefits to recruit and retain employees.

“At Sagicor, team engagement is a top priority for us and we are always finding ways in which we can strike the balance in improving productivity and helping our team members to achieve a greater work-life balance,” he said.

He also said that in addition to the benefits of increased productivity, team engagement and helping to balance work and personal obligations, another big advantage of working from home is that employees can, overtime, reduce the expenses they would usually incur from commuting.

The news release further noted that a ‘work-from -home’ policy document is also available, which details the necessary conditions, processes and procedures, for employees desirous of working from home.
