PART I – WEBSITE TERMS & CONDITIONS

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern access to and use of the official website operated by the Insurance Association of Jamaica (“IAJ”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).

By accessing, browsing, registering, or using this website, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be legally bound by these Terms.

  1. Purpose of Website

The website is intended to:

  • Provide information about the insurance industry in Jamaica
  • Publish industry reports, policy updates, and educational materials
  • Facilitate conference registration and event participation
  • Provide member-related resources

Nothing on this website constitutes legal, financial, regulatory, or insurance advice.

All content, including but not limited to:

  • Logos
  • Reports
  • Publications
  • Text
  • Graphics
  • Conference materials
  • Audio/Video content

is the intellectual property of IAJ unless otherwise stated.

Content may not be reproduced, modified, distributed, or commercially exploited without prior written consent.

  1. Acceptable Use

Users shall not:

  • Attempt to breach security systems
  • Use automated scraping tools
  • Upload malicious code
  • Impersonate another person or entity
  • Use the site for fraudulent purposes
  • Transmit unlawful, defamatory, or harmful content

IAJ reserves the right to suspend or terminate access for violations.

PART II – IAJ BUSINESS CONFERENCE TERMS & CONDITIONS

  1. Registration & Payment

  • Registration is confirmed only upon full payment.
  • Fees are quoted in Jamaican Dollars (JMD) unless otherwise stated.
  • Applicable taxes will be disclosed where required.
  • IAJ reserves the right to reject registrations at its discretion.
  1. Cancellation & Refund Policy

Unless otherwise specified:

  • Cancellations more than 30 days before the event: Refund less the administrative fee.
  • Cancellations within 30 days: Non-refundable.
  • Substitutions may be allowed upon written request.

IAJ may cancel or reschedule the event due to force majeure. Liability shall be limited to registration fees paid.

  1. Force Majeure (Expanded)

IAJ shall not be liable for failure to perform due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to:

  • Natural disasters
  • Government restrictions
  • Public health emergencies
  • Industrial action
  • Cyberattacks
  • Venue unavailability

In such cases, IAJ may reschedule or convert the event to a virtual format.

  1. Code of Conduct

Participants must:

  • Act professionally and respectfully
  • Avoid harassment or discriminatory behaviour
  • Comply with venue regulations
  • Follow health and safety guidelines

IAJ may remove attendees without a refund for misconduct.

  1. Photography & Media Release

By attending, participants consent to:

  • Photography
  • Videography
  • Livestreaming
  • Use of images for promotional purposes

Written notice must be provided prior to the event to opt out.

  1. Programme Modifications

IAJ reserves the right to modify:

  • Speakers
  • Session topics
  • Venue
  • Event schedule

No refund shall be issued for programme changes.

  1. CPD / Professional Education Disclaimer

Where Continuing Professional Development (CPD) or industry credits are offered:

  • Attendance does not automatically guarantee credit.
  • Participants must comply with attendance tracking requirements.
  • IAJ is not responsible for individual licensing board decisions regarding credit approval.
  1. Hybrid / Virtual Attendance Clause

For virtual or hybrid attendance:

  • Participants must ensure adequate internet connectivity.
  • IAJ is not liable for individual connectivity failures.
  • Login credentials are non-transferable.
  • Recording or redistribution of sessions is prohibited without consent.
  1. Sponsorship & Exhibitor Terms

Sponsors and exhibitors must:

  • Comply with branding and advertising guidelines
  • Submit materials by stated deadlines
  • Operate within the allocated booth space
  • Follow setup and dismantling timelines

Failure to comply may result in forfeiture without refund.

IAJ does not guarantee specific attendance numbers or commercial outcomes.

  1. Anti-Bribery & Ethical Conduct

IAJ maintains a zero-tolerance policy for:

  • Bribery
  • Corruption
  • Undue influence
  • Improper inducements

Sponsors, exhibitors, and participants must comply with all applicable anti-corruption laws.

  1. Limitation of Event Liability

IAJ shall not be liable for:

  • Personal injury
  • Loss or theft of property
  • Travel or accommodation costs
  • Third-party service disruptions

Participants attend at their own risk.

  1. Indemnity

Participants agree to indemnify and hold harmless IAJ from claims arising from:

  • Breach of these Terms
  • Misconduct
  • Violation of the law
  1. Governing Law

Conference Terms are governed by the laws of Jamaica.

FINAL PROVISION

If any clause is deemed unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain valid and enforceable.
