FTC to take legal action against car dealers

The Fair Trading Commission (FTC) said it will be using complaints from more than 40 consumers to build a case and take legal action against used-car dealers implicated in selling vehicles with the wrong model year, without the purchasers themselves knowing.

The Trade Board has also made recommendations to the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce with a view to dealing with the vehicle-age discrepancy.

Hylton on a mission


JAMAICA'S Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce is on a mission of seeking out used-car dealers involved in tampering with the vehicle's manufacture date and bringing them to justice.

The importers argue that if the government claims the manufacture year is incorrect, there was a breach in the Motor Vehicle Import Policy and it was not on their part.

THE Ministry of Education is considering implementing an insurance package to compensate teachers who are attacked and injured by unruly students while on the job.

Gov’t Implementing Road Safety Measures

Minister without portfolio in the Ministry of Transport, Works and Housing, Hon. Dr. Morais Guy, says the Government is committed to ensuring road safety, through legislative and other measures.

He was speaking on Wednesday, May 15, at the launch of the 5th Jamaica Driver and Traffic Safety Expo and the 2nd Road Safety 5K, held at the Ministry in Kingston.
