JIIC was born out of the insurance agency operations of GraceKennedy & Company as a general insurance provider and commenced writing business on September 1, 1981. We are also very focused on the quality of our reinsurance, which is considered to be one of the strongest in the Jamaican general insurance industry. JIIC has consistently ranked amongst the top three in profitability and strength of balance sheet. Since the acquisition of Dyoll's Jamaican portfolio in March 2005 JIIC has also become one of the largest in premium volume. JIIC is the only locally owned insurance company that has an AM Best rating, which was recently reaffirmed as B++ (Secure). JIIC protects its security via reinsurance contracts with some of the world's largest and most highly rated reinsurers including Swiss Re, Munich Re, Transatlantic Re, SCOR, QBE, Mapfre, R+V Versicherungs and Lloyds. JIIC has invested in technology to support the operation and are widely regarded as leaders in this area, which coupled with a highly trained workforce has earned us an enviable reputation for efficiency & customer service, particularly in the area of claims.
