Thank you all for coming. Today the Insurance Association Jamaica(IAJ) takes a bold step forward as we seek to improve our customer service to our many policyholders. It is always best for organizations to seek to police themselves rather than forever have regulators looking over their shoulders. In addition to that, we all made a committment to service when we asked our policy holders to sign on the dotted line. Indeed we have made a commitment to them to honour the promises made in our contracts and to be always available to serve them.
Today we are rolling out our consumer Help Line as a tangible demonstration of our commitment to serving our many policyholders. This line 991-4994 will ring here at the IAJ Offices where the staff will answer the call and engage the policyholder to get the details of their request, complaint or compliment, which they will log on a form specially designed. The information will be sent the same day to specially identified persons at the particular member company who will deal with the matter and will respond to the policyholder within 48 hours.
Each member company will report the outcome back to the IAJ who will log the result so we will be able to measure and monitor the overall service level. This in no way is meant to replace the customer service efforts of our member companies, but to support the work they are doing and to provide a third party feedback loop. These activities will be monitored by IAJ Public Relations Committee through the Secretariat, and reports sent to the IAJ Executive and to member companies monthly. At the Executive level we are very excited about this initiative and have great expectations of it, at the end of the day the success of this project will provide a better service to our policyholders , who we are committed to serve, we would have delivered on our promise.
